Belly Dance update

Our first belly dance class was a success, with seven attendees not including River (our instructor, who was certified to teach through Black Sheep Belly Dance). Practices/classes will be held weekly from 2 – 3 p.m. during Sunday practice, at the park if the weather permits, or at Saaf Village if it does not.

Cost for these classes is free, but donations are accepted. There will be a tip jar!

Belly Dance troupe

River Gale, a certified belly dance instructor, is interested in starting a Fal Dare belly dance-inspired dancing troupe. Classes would likely be once a week; cost would likely be something around a $5 donation for use and purchase of accessories (that may change, however); if someone were broke and truly interested in learning dance, they would not be turned away.

Please email House Gale if you are interested in these classes: thehouseofgale at gmail dot com.

House Gale is accepting membership applications

To apply to be a member of House Gale, please submit, in writing (Because David and River both have terrible memories and have to write everything down anyway) your persona name and your reasons for wanting to join.

You may submit this request electronically (thehouseofgale @ gmail . com or on Facebook), or in-person on a piece of paper at any Sunday practice or class.

List of upcoming classes

These will be added to the calendar as dates are set.

  • Making chainmail (several classes ranging from beginning to advanced)
  • Heraldry (rules, guidelines, and creation of)
  • Weapons (currently, short ultralight swords that conform to 8.0 standards; more to come in the future)
  • Garbmaking (currently considering the basic T-tunic and belt favors; possibly cloaks as we get deeper into winter)
  • Bellydancing (would be weekly practice)
  • Embroidery
  • Brain-tanning raw leather
  • Wire-wrapped jewelry making
  • Mead-making

All classes will cost for materials, with any excess going back to the Fal Dare coffers to facilitate more classes. Standard cost is $10, with classes that have a heftier cost being more expensive. All classes are free to observe and will be recorded for future viewing.
